NCD Global Forum for Civil Society to hear patients' perspectives on Japan legislation

08th February 2019

To address the rareness of cardiovascular diseases legislation at the national level, the National Diet of Japan launched the "Basic Act on Cardiovascular Disease Measures" on 14 December 2018.

Following this decision, the Health and Global Policy Institute will hold the "NCD Global Forum for Civil Society: Heart Disease, Stroke, and Other Cardiovascular Diseases Session" on 26 March 2019. This session will be an opportunity to hear the Japanese patient perspective in the establishment of the past "Cancer Control Act" but also from key stakeholders coming from other countries. Those lessons learned and shared practices will help to discuss the perspectives that need to be included in this new legislation.

Since 2018, the Health and Global Policy Institute has held a series of global forums and workshops to crystallise policy issues from the perspectives of people living with and affected by NCDs and to propose necessary policies.
